RIEGL Marks Grand Opening of New Hangar in Krems – Gneixendorf, Austria with Spectacular Celebration
RIEGL proudly celebrated the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art hangar in Krems, Austria, located conveniently only a short driving distance from the RIEGL World Headquarters in Horn. The event welcomed over 750 guests, including RIEGL employees and their families, local government representatives, and key clients from across Central Europe.
This special occasion marks a significant step in RIEGL’s strategic expansion in the field of airborne LiDAR, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to technological excellence, operational efficiency, and customer-focused innovation.
This new hangar is more than just a building—it’s a strategic cornerstone in our mission to deliver world-class airborne LiDAR solutions. It enables us to bring even greater precision, efficiency, and flexibility to our airborne operations, while also providing a dedicated space for innovation, testing, and collaboration. We are proud to celebrate this milestone with our team and partners, and we look forward to the new opportunities this facility will unlock for our clients around the world.
The newly inaugurated hangar will serve as the central base for RIEGL’s airborne operations, currently housing two survey aircraft—a Diamond DA62 MPP and a Cessna T206H— both ready to be equipped with RIEGL’s high-performance LiDAR systems for final calibrations and testing. The facility is designed to support the full spectrum of airborne system integrations, calibrations, and testing, enabling faster deployment and enhanced service capabilities for clients worldwide.
The grand opening was celebrated with a dynamic and engaging program that offered guests a unique look into RIEGL’s airborne capabilities:
- Helicopter rides and aerobatic flight demonstrations thrilled attendees and highlighted the precision and performance of modern aircraft.
- Guests had the opportunity to explore RIEGL’s cutting-edge technology up close through a static display of its aircraft and airborne LiDAR sensors, while enjoying delightful appetizers and a grand buffet organized by Ms. Eva Riegl. Guided tours of the new hangar that highlighted the facility’s advanced infrastructure and operational capabilities completed the guest experiences.
RIEGL extends its heartfelt thanks to the partners and fearless airman who contributed to the success of the event:
- Diamond Aircraft, with Chief Pilot Martin Scherrer and his team, delivered a stunning aerial display featuring four Diamond aircraft, demonstrating both elegance and engineering excellence, as well as incredible pilot skills.
- Volker Fuchs, CEO of Test-Fuchs, captivated the audience with a high-energy solo aerobatic performance.
- Hannes Hecher, CEO of Schiebel Unmanned Aircraft Systems in Wiener Neustadt, with their world leading military CAMCOPTER Drone on static display.
- Wolfgang Grumeth, Airborne Technologies CEO, performing an impressive display on a Diamond HK36 Eco Dimona aircraft.
- Markus Hafner, Regional Sales Director, Piston Aircraft of Textron Aviation presented the latest version of the world-renowned Cessna T206H, underscoring its role in RIEGL’s airborne fleet.
The total investment in this RIEGL initiative amounts to more than €6 million, with €3 million allocated to the construction and outfitting of the hangar, and more than €3 million invested in aircraft and specialized airborne equipment. This investment reflects RIEGL’s forward-looking approach and its dedication to maintaining leadership in the global LiDAR market.
