Engineered as a high-precision, dynamically configurable 3D sensor, the RIEGL miniVZ-500 is designed for demanding tasks in industrial automation, process control, as well as continuous environmental and safety monitoring.

High-Precision 3D Sensor for Static Applications

The sensor combines high measurement rates and precise signal processing with flexible control capabilities to deliver reliable real-time 3D data.

Various scan modes are provided to match the requirements of the respective application – balancing the specific area of interest, the point density needed, and the optimum scan time for best results. 

To meet the requirements of complex use cases, it is possible to dynamically adapt the scan parameters during operation. This enables, for example, “TWS” (Track While Scanning) applications.

Maximum Flexibility through Dynamic Scan Modes

The RIEGL miniVZ-500 stands out with its scan modes that can be flexibly configured during operation. Its Field of Regard (FoR) covers 80° vertically and 360° horizontally, within which the actual Field of View (FoV) can be freely defined. All scanning parameters—such as rotational and oscillation speeds as well as defined sectors—can be adjusted in real time. This enables the sensor to react dynamically to changing requirements: from rapid overview acquisition to targeted detection of moving objects ("Track While Scanning"). 

Scan Mode Examples

  • Panorama Scan: Rapid acquisition across the full field of view to generate scene overviews and define specific areas of interest. 
  • Belt Scan: Continuous 360° scan with high update rates optimized for real-time tracking of moving objects and collision avoidance. 
  • Sector Scan: Targeted acquisition of defined sectors for high spatial resolution and reliable object detection.
