Development Tools The primary data provided by the LMS-Z420i are binary-coded point-cloud data in the sensor’s own polar coordinate system. Further attributes to each measurement point such as intensity data or true color data complement the data. Data acquisition can be accomplished either directly in a client application by directly accessing the data interface (parallel port or TCP/IP socket requiring the optional Ethernet Box; RiPort) or by using the companion software product, RiSCAN PRO. For further processing the data have to be decoded at first. Data acquisition and data decoding of LMS-Z420i data into a client application is assisted by the following means: User’s Manual The user’s manual contains a complete description of the binary data format including a description of the data stream structure, the header structure, and the measurement data coding. The manual also contains comprehensive information about configuration and scanner control issues. RiPORT ECP driver for Windows NT and 2000. ECP stands for Enhanced Capabilities Port and is defined in IEEE-1284. This port is a standard of virtually every current PC hardware. This driver allows a straightforward implementation of data acquisition routines under Windows NT and Windows 2000 based on the usual file functions open, read, and close. Furthermore, source code examples demonstrate the usage of the driver and the functions. Scanning Library RiScanLib The scanner library implements data acquisition and binary-to-high-level data conversion. The library is implemented using COM technology and is packaged into a DLL-file, for use on the Microsoft Windows operating systems.(Win98, Win NT, Win 2000) Multithreading architecture assures smooth data acquisition while your program might be engaged in advanced calculations. The library is accompanied by example programs in Borland Delphi and Microsoft Visual C/C++. To get a demo-version for evaluation purposes, please send an e-mail to support@riegl.co.at. |
